Sop en Dop

Last week I attended a ‘Sop en Dop’ evening at a friends place. Translation soup and wine. A fantastic idea for a winter dinner party.  It’s a very easy and cost effective way to entertain. She made two delicious soups and we bought some amazing sourdough bread. On a separate but related thought I want to start cork journaling. Writing the date, place and people you shared it with on the cork is a great way to keep track of all the boozy nights

I Learnt a New Word Today… Ombre

“Ombre” in French means shadow or shade. Ombre is also used to refer to hair colour that fades from dark to light.  Think extreme regrowth. This is exactly what I want to do to my hair. Rachel Bilson and Whitney Port have donned this hair colour.

Winters Back!

The Cape Town winter is back with vengeance. Instead of being in the office I would much rather be on the couch with hotchocolate!

Bastille Day

Being a graduate from Stellenbosch University means that I am partial to all festivals that involve the drinking of wine. The most recent being Bastille Day in Franschoek. Not to be confused with a day of cultured wine tasting, Bastille Day can and did get quite out of hand. Majority of people swanning around in striped shirts and berets. Good food, entertaining friends and a never-ending source of great wine. Not satisfied to leave when the festival closed we decided to end the night at the local bar, Elephant & Barrel.

Due to the great success of Bastille Day, I have now booked my ticket to the Stellenbosch Wine Festival. Will let you know how it goes!

To Tattoo, or not to Tattoo?

Lately I can’t seem to get tattoos off my mind.  After returning from London, my friend Megan seems to be set on getting one. This got me thinking. Tattoos are no longer only for those who hang out in seedy bars, who ride motorcycles or who have criminal records. Tattoos now show no bias to any particular social group. I am all for them, as long as it’s not a massive dragon breathing fire down your arm. I want a tattoo! Though some (my dad) may argue that ‘the frontal lobe of my brain is not fully developed yet and therefore I am making an impulsive decision that I will regret in the future’. Not to mention that it may give several members of my family, mild heart attacks. Until I get the guts to actually go through with it, here are a few I love.

Reindeers in July

I have a love for things that look like they were made by my granny. The cornier the better. Hence my liking of what appears to be pixelated reindeers.

Crochet is also a favourite. What started, as a way to distract me from playing with my hair (a bad habit no one should willing pursue) has now become a productive and industrious pastime. Crochet is probably not something your average 22 year old is obsessed with.

I will post some of my own creations soon.

A Ring for Every Finger

Here are some treasures I came across today. Vamp Clothing is responsible for creating these amazing rings. Apparently you can own one yourself if you take a trip to Hello Again (on Long Street). I must have one for every finger!

my return to blogging!

After nearly 4 months of being neglectful I’m back! I know there is no excuse but here are a few; I have moved house twice, started a fantastic new job and picked up one quirky roommate. From here forth I promise to be a dedicated and attentive blogger. The posts are coming!
