Swan Lake

Last night I went to see Swan Lake with some of my best females. It was absolutely beautiful. Ballet is a subject I am not well-versed on but I was able to appreciate the performance anyway. I am one of those annoying people who like to comment all the way through movies but this had me silent for a good 2 and a half hour. I was completely mesmerized. People actually get dressed up to see the ballet, which was refreshing. Although I was not the picture of grace, nearly knocking over an old lady and practically falling down the stairs. I need to work on my ballet-watching etiquette. I think tonight is the last show. It’s at the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town and ticket prices range from R100 – R250.  Book at Computicket. It is the best cure for a bad day at work ;)

Sorry about the lack of photos, but here are some others to inspire you.

This made me think of one of my favourite artists Edgar Degas. He use to paint ballerinas. I grew up with his prints on my bedroom walls.

Dinosaurs ARE Cool

In case you didn’t know dinosaurs are cool. When I was little I learnt all about dinosaurs from my dad. I wouldn’t say I’m a dinosaur expert but I sure do know a lot about them. Jurassic park was aaamazing! Not only did it make me love dinosaurs even more but it gave me a healthy fear of Velociraptors. Definitely the scariest of all dinosaurs. I am an admitted dinosaur geek!

Black Tears and Strange Dream

I am a self-confessed reality tv addict. If you’re a fan a Project Runway then you will know that last night we saw Gretchen Jones win season 8.  Her collection was amazing and the win was well deserved.  Bohemian chic is the only way to describe it. As we live in South Africa and are doomed to watch everything a year after it actually happens, she has already got her next line out. Her Fall Collection for 2011 is entitled “Black Tears and Strange Dream”.  I love that all her designs are very wearable. Here are a few of my favourites from her collection.

Turbans

Today I am wearing a turban. I was inspired yesterday after I saw the most stylish receptionist I have ever seen, wearing one. I often tie one to my head in the morning and then chicken out just as I’m about walk out the door. But today I made it all the way to work with it on my head. I absolutely love them and wish I could wear one everyday. Although there are some out there who think it’s completely ridiculous.

When I can get to a camera I will post a pic of me rocking the turban. Will let you know the feedback I receive at the office.

The Blazer

Nothing beats a good blazer. It has the ability to transform any outfit. I myself am the owner of a few.

Where in the world could you find a blazer for R199… Mr Price of course. This amazing blazer was part of the Amber Jones range at Mr Price called ‘The Best is Yet to Come’. I rushed into store cash in hand only to find they were all sold out. Please Mr Price wont you make some more blazers!

Union Jack

The latest and greatest décor trend is the Union Jack. Iconic is the only word to describe it. When it comes to flags it is by far superior. So put the kettle on and lets all be British!

Please May I Own You

Fell in love with this Country Road bag. And it can be yours for a mere R 1 599 from Woolworths. Wish I had a spare organ to donate!

Woman's Day Picnic

What better way to spend Womans Day than a picnic in Kirstenbosch.

Fort Construction 101

Remember when you were 6 years old and ripped all the sheets from the linen closet (to your mom’s dismay) to construct the most elaborate fort of all time. Well we did this a few weekends ago. And I can tell you fort construction is no easy feat. Luckily we were under the guidance of a fort-making veteran (my roommate).

Tretchikoff

'Dying Swan' by Tretchikoff is definitely one of my favourite paintings. I am desperate to get my hands on a print.
